A Podium in Switzerland!

DSC 0151

We may have been expecting a bit more, but we’re still very excited about Lucy Wambui MURIGI’s solid 2nd place finish at the 38th Kerzers Run in western Switzerland. Although running neck-and-neck for first, Lucy eventually lost contact with her Kenyan rival in the final 2 kilometers. Problems with her thigh that had recently been plaguing her forced her to ease off the pace in the closing kilometers. Nonetheless, great job for your hard-earned 2nd place!

Pauline EAPAN started out strongly in the opening kilometers but struggled visibly as the race progressed and eventually had to settle for a disappointing 8th place.

On the men’s side, Elvis KIPKOECH was right up in the large lead pack for nearly the first half of the race. He then lost contact at the steep hill at kilometer 10, but was still holding on to third place. It wasn’t until near the end that he let another runner slip past, and so just missed a podium by a few seconds. Well done, Elvis, on your season debut!
Wilson MELI was not pleased at all with his performance. Although part of the lead pack in the beginning, the hills took their toll and he ultimately had to settle for 9th.
