Mexican warriors – Jose Santana & Jesus Arturo Esparza
After Juan Pacheco now Jose Luis Santana and Jesus Arturo Esparza, the next qualifiers of their country have registered! This team has already represented its national colors at the half marathon world championship 2020 (Gydina)! The Mexican Olympic Committee has great hopes for this team, because the three men are also supposed to compete in the marathon in Tokyo 2021!!!
61:11min for Jose and 62:51min for Jesus are the current best times in half marathon, plus marathon times of 2:10:54 for Pan American silver medalist (!) Jose and 2:11.04 for Jesus (Valencia 2020). Jesus also enters his preparation with a fresh 5000m best time from last weekend! Congratulations on that!
No question, these two will try to make their mark on the S7 half marathon with their countryman! Vamos Mexico!!!
Hendrik Pfeiffer
In 2016 Hendrik Pfeiffer was already very close to his dream of an Olympic marathon – he had mastered the Olympic qualification in the marathon in the Düsseldorf Marathon. But in the summer, he had to watch the competitions in Rio from Germany after recovering from heel surgery. Once again in 2018, the Wattenscheid native was slowed down by his heel injury after successfully qualifying.
For his big goal Tokyo 2020, Hendrik qualified in February 2020 at the Seville Marathon in an outstanding 2:10:18h!
But Hendrik remains impressively in focus! Directly after returning from the training camp from Kenya in March 2021, the @pumarunning athlete runs 62:05min over the HM distance at the Invitational Race in Dresden. With his new PB and the knowledge to be on the best way towards Tokyo, the German top athlete is now running over the S7 towards his Olympic dream!
We are looking forward to the future German Olympian!
🇦🇹 Valentin Pfeil
Valentin (marathon PB 2:12:55h) is to be admired in his fight for the Olympic ticket and is a mental stalwart!
December 2020 Valencia Marathon: after top preparation, banned from starting due to a false positive Covid test.
One week later at the spontaneous start at the Austrian Championships in Vienna: withdrawal with muscular problems.
March 2021 in Dresden: a fall ends the qualification dream at the elite race.
And in April at the invitational race at the airfield in Siena: until km 32.5 on course, but then he had to pay tribute to the initial pace in windy-wet conditions. 2:15:14h was his target time there. Definitely not what corresponds to the potential of the 3-time state champion in the half marathon (PB 64:06min)!
The fighter’s heart of Valentin Pfeil doesn’t let it get him down and so he will dare another, final attempt for Tokyo 2021 at the S7Marathon.We will support him in the best possible way! Get your ticket Valentin!
Nicolas Navarro
Bienvenue Nicolas!
Nicolas’ running career began in 2012 with a small city run. At the latest since the Paris Marathon 2014, which he could finish in 2:32:58, he was gripped by running fever! With his best time of 2:09:17 (Valencia 2020), he is now running towards the race of his life: the Olympic marathon in Tokyo!
But despite all his focus on running, Nicolas is still working as an employee at Decathlon today. Only in hot preparation phases for major events he has taken unpaid leave. A concept that obviously works perfectly for him! In 2020 he saw his first international appearance with the French national team at the World Half Marathon Championships in Gydina (62:29, PB), before he raised his marathon best to a new level in Valencia! He is now heading straight to Tokyo via the S7Half Marathon! Bienvenue Nicolas!
Wir freuen uns auf euch – we are looking forward to seeing you at the starting line!
