Orphans in the region of Kiambogo, the Kenyan headquarters of run2gether, do not receive any support from the authorities. So we decided to found a nursery school for about 20 to 30 orphans and children from poor background and were able to open it in February 2013. The nursery school is only 100 meters away from the Sports Centre.
The constructions cost were covered partly by donations or sponsorship money and partly by the 30% of the runners’ prize money.
Construction on the nursery school began in November 2012. Thanks to good weather and the hard work of all the people on site, we could already open our nursery school in January 20013.
Head of the nursery school is Lilian Nduta, wife of Geoffrey Gikuni NDUNGU. As Mrs. Nduta is a teacher with outstanding organisational skills, she meets the requirements perfectly. The best proof of Mrs. Nduta’s excellent work is the children’s almost 100% daily attendance and the fact that 13 of them could attend Kiambogo Primary School after only one year at the Nursery School.
Mr. Paul Njogu GIKUNI’s wife is responsible for the physical wellbeing of the children. Mr. Gikuni is our tourist guide.
In order to ensure long-term existence of the Nursery School we are dependent on your support. You can support us either through sponsorships or a one-time/ regular small donation(s). We thank all our past, present and future donors and sponsors for contributing to and supporting our activities.
